Letter to the Rising First Graders
Dear First Graders,
Are you ready to move next door and spend a year learning many exciting things? Hooray! So am I.
I hope you look over the Summer Reading List I have sent home..... Please spend some time maintaining your skills .... write as much as you can and read everything, even the newspaper.... I love to hear about news in Alabama and all over the world,,,, I thing weather news is exciting.
You will make your first Communion in second grade, so God will be an important part of our life everyday....behavior at Mass will be reverent and we will learn all the responses so you can understand everything that happens at a Mass.
And here comes cursive writing....but no until your manuscript writing is beautiful!
In Math you will learn how to add and subtract two -digit numbers and then learn about numbers to 1,000! So practice your math facts over the summer so you will know them really fast.
We will do science experiments and learn all about life in Alabama and in the world when we study social studies.... we will write a News each day that tells about you and what your school day is like. Our reading books are lots of fun with the new skills to be learned.
Have a fun summer.... have a splash at the beach for me.... slurp a snow cone.... write down wonderful ideas in a journal or on a slip of paper and save it for me.... read a bunch of stuff.... love somebody a whole lot.... see you soon..............
God loves you.... I do, too..... Mrs. Mainor
